Olympic weight bench and rubber hex dumbbell set for a home gym

How Much Does a Home Gym Cost in Toronto? Three Budget Builds

"How much does a home gym cost?" gets a lot of vague answers online. Here are three real setups with exact prices (as of October 2026), from a small starter to a full dumbbell and barbell setup.

1. Dumbbell starter: $110

Best for: small spaces, beginners, full body workouts at home.

  • A pair of 10 lb hex dumbbells: $22
  • A pair of 15 lb hex dumbbells: $33
  • A pair of 25 lb hex dumbbells: $55

Three pairs is enough for presses, rows, curls, lunges and goblet squats. Want it even cheaper? Our PVC dumbbells start at $10 for a 15 lb.

2. Barbell starter: about $270

Best for: squats, bench press and deadlifts.

That's 219 lb on the bar when fully loaded, which covers most people for a long time. You'll also need somewhere safe to squat and bench, like a squat stand and a bench.

3. Full dumbbell and barbell gym: about $1,045

Best for: people who train most days and want everything at home.

That gets you ten pairs of dumbbells on a rack, a loaded barbell, and somewhere to keep the plates off the floor.

Ways to spend less

  • Start with build 1 or 2 and add pieces as you need them.
  • Pick cast iron plates over rubber if noise isn't an issue.
  • Check the clearance section first.
  • Pick up in store instead of paying to ship heavy equipment.

Common questions

What's the cheapest home gym setup?

A few pairs of dumbbells. Three pairs cost $110 with us and cover a full body workout.

Is a barbell or dumbbells better for a home gym?

Dumbbells are easier to start with and take less space. A barbell lets you lift heavier on squats, bench and deadlifts. Many people start with dumbbells and add a barbell later.

Can you put together a custom home gym package?

Yes. Tell us what you want and we'll price the whole order together. Bigger orders get better pricing.
